Email “spoofing” scams

Members are reminded to watch out for email “spoofing” scams.  We have received a report of a club treasurer receiving an email appearing to come from an officer asking to process a payment.  The email addresses all appeared normal, but the text was suspicious.  If in doubt phone to check.

If an email looks dodgy, it probably is!

Advice from Action Fraud:

What should you do if you’ve received a scam email?

  • Do not click on any links in the scam email.
  • Do not reply to the email or contact the senders in any way.
  • If you have clicked on a link in the email, do not supply any information on the website that may open.
  • Do not open any attachments that arrive with the email.

River Chet restrictions

We have received notice from the Broads Authority that dredging and maintenance operations on the River Chet may restrict passage during weekdays from Monday 13 November 2017 until Friday 23 March 2018.

During this period piling and dredging work will be in operation between 08:00 and 16:00 daily, excluding weekends. During each period of operation navigation will be restricted and delays of up to 2 hours may occur. Mariners must await clear instructions from the operators before attempting to pass and exercise great care whilst proceeding past the works. All equipment will be lit and signage will be in place to warn of restriction and delays.

We are advised that the initial work will be near the mouth of the river removing the steel posts, with later dredging and maintenance focussed on the area alongside Hardley Flood.  Passing the works may be more difficult at low water.

  • Monday 8 January until Friday 2 February 2018

Each week during this period the closure will be in effect from 08:00 Monday to 16:00 Friday.

If there is a specific need for access to Limekiln Dyke during closures then please contact Tom Hunter on 01603 756066.
