Flood warnings – Broads rivers

Flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency for the following tidal rivers:

•Bure from Wroxham Bridge

•Ant from Wayford Bridge

•Thurne from Hickling to Breydon Water

•Waveney from Ellingham to Breydon Water

•Yare from Thorpe St Andrew to Breydon Water

This message has been issued because of high freshwater river flows being restricted from draining out to sea as usual due to high tidal waters moving up the rivers at the same time. High levels in the Broads may last for a few days until the high tides have passed and recent rainfall has made its way through the system. The forecast indicates a series of risk tides for the next few days.  The Environment Agency are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updated information as it becomes available.

River levels are now steadily falling, but still remain quite high in some locations. The forecast is for no current flood risk from high tides. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor levels closely. A flood alert remains in place for the tidal River Yare from Thorpe St. Andrew to Breydon Water.
