Boating News – Navigation Restriction due to inspection work on the River Bure, Hoveton Railway Viaduct

Notice is hereby given that Bridgeway Consulting Ltd will be carrying out inspection works to Railway Viaduct on 16 November 2021 from 09:00hrs to 17:00hrs.

Note that vessels may be restricted and regulated in their movement in the vicinity of the bridge, which may cause some delays. Vessels wishing to navigate under the bridge should await instructions before proceeding.

All equipment will be lit and signage will be in place to warn of the closure.

Boating News – Navigation closure due to flood defence works on the Lower Bure

Notice is hereby given that JBA-Bentley Partnership will be undertaking maintenance works of the quay wall area, from Monday 29 November 2021 until Friday 25 February 2022. The site stretches along the downstream end of the River Bure, from grid ref TG519079 to TG520085.

The maintenance works on the water will involve the use of floating pontoons and a small work safety vessel.

Note: During the above period navigation will remain open, but vessels must exercise great care whilst proceeding past the vicinity of the works.

River Closure

Further notice is given that the River Bure will be closed at Acle New Road Bridge, Gt Yarmouth (grid ref TG521081) from Friday 03 December until Friday 17 December 2021.

Any vessel requiring urgent passage during this period, should make enquiries with JBA-Bentley Partnership on 07970405665 as soon as possible.

All equipment will be lit and signage will be in place to warn of restriction and delays.

Boating News – Oil spill exercise boom deployment on the Lower Bure

Notice is hereby given that the Broads Authority will be deploying a boom across the Lower Bure, adjacent to the Great Yarmouth Yacht Station as part of an oil spill contingency exercise.

The boom will be deployed just after high water around 10:30hrs on Tuesday 19 October. Vessels may be temporarily restricted in their movement while the boom is in place but the river will remain open for vessels wishing to pass.

Please follow any instructions given by the Ranger vessels.

East Norfolk Master Plan – Drop in event – 15 & 16 October 2021

NSBA has pressed hard for a marina with pleasant walkway and cycleway connection to the City, as well as public transport and taxi availability.

The latest stage of the consultation involves drop-in sessions at Carrow Abbey on Friday 15th October, between 14.30 and 17.30, and Saturday 16th October, between 10.00 and 13.00 – please try to attend and share your thoughts if you can!
