Urgent Boating News – Breydon

Urgent Boating News from the Broads Authority:

Post 41 on Breydon is missing from station. A channel buoy will be installed over the next couple of days until a new post can be installed. Boaters are asked to navigate with extra care in this area in the meantime.

Boating News – Repair Works at Hardley Cross Moorings

The Broads Authority have advised that contractors working on their behalf will be starting work on their Hardley Cross moorings commencing approx. Monday 7 December. They will be replacing the waling and capping on 87 metres of the mooring as well as replacing several damaged fenders.

This work is expected to take approximately 3 weeks to complete. During this period the mooring will remain closed to boats however it will be able to fully open once works are complete.

Please follow any signage present if navigating in the area. Further updates will be issued in due course. Thank you for your co-operation.

Urgent Boating News – Breydon Bridge

Urgent Boating News

The Broads Authority have been informed that Breydon Bridge is currently unable to open to boating traffic.  The bridge is scheduled to be operational again on the 5th December 2020 after repairs and testing have taken place.

GY Haven Bridge Normal Operation Resumed from 26-Nov

Norfolk County Council has informed the Broads Authority that Haven Bridge in Great Yarmouth will resume normal operation from 26 November.

Reports of Floating Pennywort in Broadland

The Broads and Norfolk Rivers IDBs have recently received reports of Floating Pennywort (Hydrocotyle ranunculoides), a fast growing and highly invasive plant species in their Boards internal Drainage Districts, around the North Walsham Dilham Canal area and the River Ant.

The discovery of this plant in the catchments is a huge risk to our IDBs, both economically as well as ecologically and could seriously impact boards infrastructure if left unchecked.

Please spread the word on the severity of this plant and report any sightings to an IDB Environment Officer or to the Norfolk County Council’s Non Native Species Initiative using the following contact details:
